Rivendell
Rivendell, Newbridge, Pickering, YO18 8JL
Rivendell sits on the boundary of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, nestled in 3 acres of secluded woodland set back from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, just a mile away from the bustling market town of Pickering. Set on the site of an old lime quarry it's a haven for wildlife and the perfect place to relax and unwind. The Lodge and Cabin are set apart from each other, each with a private wood fired hot tub, set in their own private dells with fire pits and outdoor seating. With little light pollution it's a fantastic spot to sit back and enjoy the night sky. On the doorstep are walks and mountain biking trails in all directions, with the beautiful east coast, the pretty seaside towns of Whitby and Robin Hood Bay, Dalby forest and the historic city of York all within easy driving distance.
Rivendell is a beautiful place, under new ownership in 2022, and undergoing a programme of renovation and refurbishment. We are starting to manage the woodland, planting flowers and native trees with an aim to maintain and improve the natural environment to share with others in the years to come. We are committed to minimising our environmental impact. Where possible materials on the site have been reused, restored and up cycled. We are insulating our buildings where possible and are replacing heating with energy efficient alternatives as we update them. Our hot tubs do not use electricity and are only heated when needed, we are drying wood from the site for future use. We use cleaning products that are kind to the environment and any provided products have been sourced as ethically as possible. We would like to make it easy for our guests to reduce waste, reduce consumption of energy and recycle whilst they stay with us. We provide onsite recycling facilities and composting bins and will collect unwanted non perishable food items to redistribute via the local food bank to those in need.
